It was a wonderful experience having breakfast at Cafe Garden! It is very dog friendly with a beautiful deck view! The wait staff was delightful and very helpful! The food was delicious but you might think of sharing the Al's Special as it was enormous! Couldn't ask for a better dining experience!

Chef Brian blows my mind every time. Don't be fooled by first impressions. Looks a little dated but that's because the owners&chef are ALL about the food! We ate calamari appetizer(saffron aioli is to die for), surf&turf (Kobe beef with the mushroom ragu was my fav) bacon halibut tarragon fettuccine in a creamy sauce was the table favorite. Smoky Seafood pot pie and Rosemary gnocchi were a couple of the other dishes and everything was well seasoned&cooked perfectly. One of my favorite places for local food on Olympic peninsula

We discovered Cafe Garden on Yelp. Terrific find! We went for lunch and came back for dinner! Food was superb, setting lovely, service extraordinary and the prices more than reasonable. New American describes the food best. Locally sourced, easy on the stomach and prepared to perfection. Be sure to the local seafood- whole crab, salmon, halibut, beef steak. A special word on the service. It was unobtrusively present and very helpful. One of our party did not like his entree and the server not only noticed that but replaced it with another choice. We were happy diners.

Disappointed. We had high hopes for Garden Cafe. We ordered the Copper River Salmon, Seafood Pie and Steak Oscar. We wanted the Halibut, but they were sold out. The Copper River was over cooked and dry. The Bernaise sauce was over-powering with a string taste of fennel ( this was on our steaks and the salmon) . The steak was a bit tough and the favors just weren't there. The seafood pie saved the meal, lots of seafood in every bite. The crust done to perfection (not burnt or doughy great flavors and decent size. Was hoping to do breakfast here but for the price and quality it just wasn't an option

Stopped here for lunch after a long drive from Seattle. Very nice views of a garden even though this place sits on a busy highway. I ordered the warm seafood salad and was not disappointed. Perfectly cooked scallops, prawns, and salmon on a bed of fresh greens with just the right amount of dressing. This would be very easy to get wrong, but everything about this dish was just right. My companion had the seafood sandwich as was also impressed. Now, on to dessert. Wasn't hungry but when we heard "peanut butter pie" we changed our minds. Perfect balance of peanut flavor to chocolate, buttery crust, crunchy peanuts on top, creamy, not too sweet. In short, where peanuts go to die. This was my first visit, but will definitely return to try breakfast.

This location was recommended by a days inn staff member. We tried it and found that the service was very good and the chef was on top chef! I could tell after eating the food that there was quality to it. There are some kinks in over powering flavors on scallops, but the sweets were all amazing and the sautéed clams hit the spot, on both flavor and creativity. The wait staff was great!

What a great little place! Quiet, clean, friendly accommodating staff and wonderful food. Stopped here for lunch passing through on the way to Forks and we were all very pleased. I had the cheesy beer soup with grilled croissant which was filling and very good. My husband had the Philly cheese steak and scarfed every bite!! MIL had the Ruben, soup and salad with raspberry vinaigrette and she says it was EXCELLENT! Now we know where to stop next time we are passing through

Let me first say that I knew it would be a relatively expensive meal, but I didn't know it would be so worth it! I was eating by myself (traveling solo) and started with the oysters which were probably the only slightly disappointing part. They were still worth their price. 6 for $12, but I think the shucker wasn't super great. I kept getting pieces of shell in with the oyster, but not enough to ruin the meal. Then I got the seafood pot pie. WOAH. I thought it would just be a normal pot pie with seafood, but this was incredible, the sauce was its own unique flavor and the seafood was fantastic. I had at least 2 full scallops in there. Came with a nice salad and pesto with bread. Also got a bottle of wine, all excellent. The waitress was so nice too! I was chilly because I left my sweater at the hotel, and she brought me a blanket that they usually keep for the patio customers. Couldn't recommend it more!!

Went for dinner and had the Seafood Pot Pie. It was stuffed with seafood -no extra fillers like potato- and so delicious.

  • Nory B.

Nice cozy place with lots of booth seating, with views of the beautiful garden outside. Service was prompt and very friendly; a lot of locals eat here and the servers inquire after their health and families--that's something you miss in big cities. The blackberry muffins were fresh, hot and delicious! The oatmeal has a good chewy texture, and it's really hot, which is not always the case with oatmeal. Definitely a great place for breakfast!

Really good restaurant to stop by when you are travelling from/towards Port Angeles. Try out the fiesta chicken sandwitch and the garden burger with potato wedges. Really tempting and delightful food with excellent service :) I feel hungry again

I visited on a Sunday morning, expecting the place to be packed. Instead, it was about 2/3 full, and I was immediately seated. The menu has lots of good selections, but I had heard about the Dungeness Crab Benedict, so I ordered that and opened the book I brought with me. My food arrived in five minutes, and it was delicious! There was plenty of crab meat, *real* crab meat, and while anything served on an english muffin is never big, there was a large serving of hashed browns along with it. I never had to wait for coffee refills. My only gripe is that someone that I think was the owner or family of the owner(s) was seated nearby, and their group was LOUD. Hungover? Hard of hearing? Just kinda obnoxious? I don't know, but it sort of made the quiet comfort of the place that I was settling into when I first arrived become moderate irritation. The only good part is now I am up to date on the general things going on around the area.

DO NOT MISS THIS GEM! You can easily drive right by thinking it is part if the motel next door. Or be thrown off by the name that it's just a little cafe. The food was awesome. I had the seafood pot pie and my husband had the steak. Can't rave enough. The service was great and Betty takes pride in the food and your opinion of it. The creamed spinach soup was very tasty as was the mushroom gravy. You can taste the freshness.

Had Halibut special and was delightful. Perfectly done. The wine list was good and service snappy. We come again!

We are visiting the Olympic Peninsula from NYC and found this gem on Yelp. WHAT A TREAT. Great food, big portions (saved the rest for lunch!), and just the loveliest service. Treat yourself to a meal here, it's so worth it!

Went for dinner a few nights ago. It was so hot in town we opted to sit on the patio/balcony. It was beautiful as was the food. I had the Cod Romesco. It was very tasty. Also had the blackberry cobbler. Everything was wonderful. Would defiantly eat there again.

  • Shelly C.

Great breakfast! Higher prices but definitely large enough to split. The shrimp and crab omelette was very good. Service was excellent!! My husband and I split breakfast and we each got a beverage - it was around $25 including a nice tip. Speaking of tips, if you do split save yourself $1 and split it yourself at the table. There is a small fee for the restaurant to do it :)

  • Caleb M.

I came in after loving this place years ago. It's still good, just not as good as I remembered. My friend loved his eggs Benedict. I split the eggs Saratoga and had a side of bacon. The back was actually overly crispy. The saratoga was alright. But in the end I don't feel we had good value.

After one visit... we're fans! Friendly people. Great food and coffee. Comfortable. Thank you!

  • Jim B.

What a treat! We started our meal with the corn chowder, which was their soup of the day. Excellent! We had the Shrimp with Polenta and the Seafood Pot Pie dinners and both exceeded our expectations! The pot pie included salmon, shrimp, and scallops with a blend of onions, mushrooms, and red bell peppers with just the right seasonings. The service was friendly and very attentive. We highly recommend the Garden Cafe!

  • Megan M.

Holy baked goods! On this most recent trip we stopped here for breakfast, they have a standard breakfast menu with some specialty items. The star in my mind is the homemade baked goods which come with it, croissant, scones or sticky buns. My breakfast was probably good but it was overwhelmed by the hot, gooey, sinful sticky bun. I wish there was some way I could take these home, but I guess I'll have to wait until my next visit.

    (5)
  • Lois B.

A bit on the over priced side, but you're paying for the fresh local ingredients. I just wish they made better cuisine with them! There is really nothing special about this place, but one thing I know for sure is that all of their soups are amazing with rich flavors. coming here for lunch is always a good idea.

We stopped by for lunch because it was very close to our hotel. The food was ok. Nothing special. Service was friendly and prompt.

Café Garden is one of the best Port Angeles has to offer. Although located on the main road out of town, the little garden front provided a barrier and a retreat from the road noise and strip-mall surroundings. The place could use a decor update, but was otherwise surprisingly delightful. Celebrating a birthday, we ordered some nice wine, a couple of the seafood specials, Dungeness crab salad and shared a couple of berry cobbler and pecan cheesecake desserts. The food was good and the service fine. -A memorable evening with good conversation and celebration.

I absolutely hate the term hidden gem, but this place is exactly that! The staff is the most friendly people you could ever meet. Very accommodating! Beautiful ambiance, amazing food would completely go back!

  • Amanda S.

Stoppe in for lunch after getting off the ferry from Victoria. Fast, very friendly service. I had the 1/2 sandwich special with the veggie sandwich, green salad and the seafood chowder. All were very good, the veggies were crisp and fresh. The chowder was the star. It was New England style, rich and creamy with generous bits of cod, bay shrimp, and clams. Fresh ground pepper was offered and it accompanied the chowder perfectly. No real ambiance, but a quaint little cafe. Would come here again when I'm passing through.

  • Sandra M.

This has been a fav for many years, but the last year or so the quality has suffered. Can't exactly say why, maybe higher prices at lunch and the soups and sandwich buns are just ordinary . Two of the servers are long timers and part of reason to try again and see if I've hit off days. Need consistency in the kitchen. Enjoyed hummingbirds at year round feeders!

Was a little disappointed in the baked good. It wasn't what I was expecting. It's a nice place to visit. I'm never in port angeles so I was visiting for work. I saw the reviews for this place so I thought i'd give it a try. I would recommend this to any person thats not been in port angeles before. I think its a nice little diner for people to eat breakfast. The staff was incredibly nice and there is a nice garden in the back. I fortunately, got a seat with a view of the garden. This isn't like the botanics garden but it is still very pretty. So if you were expecting something incredibly extravagant like the Botanics garden you will be a little bit disappointed. The only reason I give it three stars is purely based on the food and price. I wasn't too impressed with the food. I got the smoked salmon saratoga (an omeltte with sour cream and smoked salmon) it came with hash browns and a baked good. It was alright but I've had better. So like I said I'd come here to give this place a try but I wouldn't be a frequent visitor. The staff here is very welcoming and attentive so thats always a plus!

  • Neha D.

The garden view and service was great... The baked goods amazing... But the food is ok... Nothing too great... I had the eggs benedict and my husband has the Mexican omelet... Both just average

It had been 15 years since I had last dined here. I have very fond memories here and wanted to visit for some time, but it is located in sort of a odd spot where you don't really notice it until you are already past it. I came with I large party and we were seated at a large table in the back room. Aside from one order mix up (not unusual for a large group) the whole experience was superb. The servers had the rare gift of being able to be super helpful and friendly, yet not underfoot and annoying. Food and desert were perfect in every way; good sized portions, supreme quality, and reasonable prices. At the end of the evening I left in the best of spirits after such a fine time. While my latest experience was for dinner, I remember the breakfast being just as good, and my dinner hosts confirmed that by saying that breakfast is a weekly draw for them. I would highly recommend Cafe Garden as a good choice for those who seek good food at a fair price in a laid back environment.

I'm going to have to downgrade my review of this restaurant from 2013 as it seems to be on the decline as of late. I feel the quality of the meals has lessened and the last time I visited, the restaurant had a nasty spoiled milk smell that was pervasive through the restaurant. Since then, I haven't had the desire to return given better alternatives.

Came here awhile back and I had the Beef Gyro. While the food itself looked appetizing and pretty it was actually lacking. The meat was dry and the Tzatziki sauce was alright.. nothing memorable about the meat or sauce. I barely ate half my gyro cause I was disappointed. Service tho was really great, if there was anything about this place I remembered it was how attentive the service was. The view from the windows was pretty nice. Considering that it's usually cold, cloudy and gloomy out here, this would be an ideal place to just sit by, have a bite to eat and enjoy the scenery on cloud free day. The garden outside is really peaceful and has a calming affect. I'd give this place another try if I was out in the area again.

  • Mary M.

The halibut special was excellent as was the seafood pot pie. The salad dressings were house made and out of this world. The pesto for bread was the best. Betty, the server, was not only an excellent server, she spent time helping us decide on a plan for the next couple of days including giving us map. Don't skip dessert We never eat it, but this was too good to pass up. Totally perfect meal and great travel plans too.

New executive chef and the menu was outstanding! Joe had the braised pork shank which was incredible. Our friend had the chicken Oscar and seafood chowder, which she loved. Elaine said the chicken Marsala was cooked perfectly, moist and tasty. This is definitely a must stop when we are in PA again.

Excellent service, wide variety menu and delicious meals. Note that on Sunday they only serve breakfast!

Very quaint Cafe with friendly service and good food. The food presentation was delightful. I ordered the Belgian Waffle w scrambled eggs n sausage. The waffle was excellent! I would recommend any one to try it. The eggs n sausage on the other hand (though not bad) were a little on the bland side. Coffee drinkers will love their Dark French Roast. It has good aroma w rich full flavor.

I come from a city where there are plenty of breakfast places, fair prices, and large portions.... though with varying quality. :) I'm generally most impressed by how full a place can get me, for under $15. So I'm kinda portion biased. I would've given cafe garden 5 stars, if not for the TINY (albeit delicious) pancakes that came with my omelet. Overall... the omelet was amazing, and so too was the quality & service. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good eats.

Pretty good place for breakfast, though it's alittle bit more for me to finish. Crab and shrimp omelette is fantastic! Services are good too. Nice start of the day and holiday!

Great service, but the food is ok and way over priced. Got the dungeness crab and shrimp toast, it was delicoius but I would have paid more like $6 for it as opposed to $20. salad was kind of old, the soup was good but not very fresh.

I feel bad that it's taken me 2 months to write a review... at a point when I can not for the life of me remember what I ate. But Tiff, Tracy and I stopped in at Cafe Garden at the behest of yelp, and it did not lead us astray. It's REALLY REALLY good, but for the life of me, I can not remember what or why. I remember the desert came with the meal and not being much of a desert fan, I thought it was delish. The waitress is super super nice and gave us plenty of pointer about the food and the local hiking. God love her. Whateves, I would come back, and the next update, I will write about the food in abundance! Much love to the Cafe Garden.

It takes a lot for me to give praise but this place is fantastic. The eggs Benedict on crescent was awesome!!! Huge ham slices poached eggs. Also had a pancake on the side. My coffee never even got half way down before the awesome staff filled it right back up. Five stars all the way.

I don't even know where to begin. Had breakfast here on two consecutive days. The staff were exceedingly friendly and attentive. We wanted for nothing from the time we sat down to the time we paid our bill and left. The service was THAT GOOD. So was the French Roast coffee. I'm a sucker for breakfast menus that include seafood. When I saw that Cafe Garden had good reviews and a crab-and-shrimp omelette, there was no question that we'd try it. I was not disappointed. The omelette was cooked properly and contained a good amount of crab and shrimp. It was delightful. We returned for breakfast the next day. I ordered the Crab Benedict and it was absolutely delicious with no skimping on the Dungeness. A wonderful meal.

A very pleasant atmosphere and great food. Small and intimate fine dining and great staff will provide a great dining experience.

Don't let the roadside diner pass by as you travel the 101. Cafe gardens baked goods are reason enough to stop. The list of scones , sticky buns , and muffins baked daily is a meal in itself or a worthy side to their tasty meals. My Saratoga scramble with Dungeness crab was heavenly as the fluffy eggs combined with cream cheese and green onions really hit all the flavor receptors. Coffee was free flowing but a touch weak in my opinion. The basic breakfast lists delivers a patron of any size appetite satisfaction.

I have only rave reviews for this place. As someone who was passing through town and looking for a decent breakfast, this place fit the bill AND some. GREAT service, lots of smiles from the staff and great on the water and coffee service (which I always very much appreciate). The food was incredible and I wished I lived close to be able to enjoy it more often. Great job, Cafe Garden!

Went to Cafe Garden on Sunday morning, 8/10/14. I ordered the crab and shrimp omelet. It was very good and came with excellent hash browns and a biscuit. It was a substantial plate full of food and I doubted I would be able to eat it all. But it was soooo good I couldn't help myself. I devoured every last crumb along with three cups of nicely brewed coffee. I would give this place five stars except for the service being a little spotty and, mainly, the odd location on the highway out of town. Nice ambiance inside, however, with nice northwest and Olympic pictures on the walls. Probably the best place for breakfast in Port Angeles, and I would absolutely recommend it and go there again the next time I'm there.

We just moved to town and thankfully we are a 10 minute walk to Cafe Garden. We've been here twice already in the last four days and both times the food has been super delicious! Love this place!

We were out on our annual camping vacation which for some reason, we always take on the week of out anniversary. Due to a mishap with a 12 year old and a glow stick the night before, my daughter, her BF and her kids had come in to the Hospital Emergency room and spent the night in a motel. I was looking for a place to eat that would be suitable for our anniversary and Cafe Garden looked like the best place in Port Angeles and was directly across the street. They had great seafood and other options. The daughter's BF is allergic to shell fish but they came through with many non-seafood options. My wife had a crab and shrimp sandwich that was delish! I went for the Cioppino. I've always been disappointed when I ordered it outside of Northern California. The waitress told me I wouldn't be and she was right. It was excellent, although it was missing the whole crab pieces in the shell. It is on the higher priced side, but the food is excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again the next time I'm in Port Angeles.

  • Eileen G.

This place is nice. I would like to give it more than 3 stars because the service was good, but the food I ordered was "eh" and underwhelming. I will say that my husband loved his mushroom burger... But my salad, which was the crab and shrimp Louie was not that good. It had a very small amount of Dungess crab, only 3 prawns yet a ton of those tiny salad shrimp. The dressing was good, the veggies in the salad were good, but for $20 I would've liked a little more crab or something. Once I saw my salad, I almost immediately wished I would've ordered their wilted spinach salad which sounded really good... Moving back to the breadsticks & oil... Oil had pesto in it which was nice, but very plain otherwise - it lacked salt and Parmesan. We thought the service was pretty good, hostess and waiter were both very friendly and attentive. If you are traveling through and consider stopping at this place, I guess go for anything but the crab and shrimp Louie salad.

  • Jeff N.

Very disappointing. Ordered cioppino, less than 2 oz of actual seafood drowned in tomato soup. Wife ordered stir fry and was 75% onions.

  • Joseph F.

This was a great find for us. The restaurant is right next to the main road, but it somehow hard for me to find it. They serve very fresh seafood dish with very reasonable price. I had the clam chowder bowl special, which came with salad. It was rich, hot, and fresh. I loved every bit of the it. My wife had clam linguine. Again, fresh and tasty. Although the portion wasn't big, it was certainly enough to fill our stomaches.

  • Lamb F.

Great breakfast and amazing service. I ordered a coffee, garden scramble and a croissant. They topped off my coffee every time it got near half full, the scramble was very well cooked and i highly recommend the grilled croissant. Delicious. The waitress I always get is super nice and does a great job!

  • Ashley S.

Fantastic! Great menu options and a very clean restaurant. I loved the grilled sub with ham, turkey, bacon (two big slices!) on a grilled ciabatta bum that's twice the size of regular ciabatta rolls. My husband enjoyed his burger and potato wedges. The atmosphere is pleasant. A clean, somewhat dated yet homey restaurant surrounded by a lovely garden and views of the surrounding woodland. You can't tell that you're on the 101 when you're there. I would love to go back and try more meals, but we won't be back up this way for a few years. I will have to refer to my yelp reviews, because I loved this meal!!

  • Caitlin C.

Cafe Garden could use a decor update, but other than that was surprisingly delightful. My friend and I both tried specials (oyster sandwich and mussel linguine, I want to say), and both dishes were good. The seafood seemed fresh, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. I don't like big portions at restaurants, and each dish was a good small-ish size for me. Those with large appetites might need to order an appetizer or side dish. The view of the garden is nice, and we saw multiple hummingbirds at the feeders outside the windows, so that was cool. I would absolutely eat here again, especially given the limited options in PA.

  • Joel G.

Great place. We just for the seafood pot pie which is served only at dinner. It contains prawns, salmon, scallops and crab with vegetables in a lobster sauce. My wife used to love chicken pot pie but is now a pescatarian and ears no meat or poultry. She LOVED this dish.

We were looking for a good breakfast place in P. A. and think we found a new favorite. Super friendly staff and the offered regular and French roast coffee and espresso drinks. The prices may be a little high for locals, but the food and service was excellent. Hubby had chicken fried steak and I had the Saratoga which has a couple of variations; it's an scramble with onion and cream cheese, I chose Dungeness crab with mine and the proportion of crab to egg was nicely done. Both dishes came with finely shredded, well prepared hash browns and choice of bread. We both chose the biscuit. The biscuit was on the dense side, but not overly doughy, just very dense with soft butter and jam. I prefer a drier biscuit as a rule. The waitstaff was superb! Friendly, a little sassy, and hubby's coffee cup was never less than half full. We'll be returning on our next visit for sure!

  • Joseph S.

Service was good, but food was lousy and way overpriced. Sign in the front of the restaurant said fresh Salmon, but it had no taste. I could not finish it. Also, too much salt in the soup and Salmon, as I spent all night drinking water. I would not go back there.

This restaurant is a real diamond in the rough! When visiting port angeles, this is the sole restaurant I like to eat at. The food tastes fresh, moderately healthy, and there is a large variety of options. The decor is not amazing, but passable. I don't think i've had any bad experiences at Cafe Garden, and I have tried (on various occasions) desserts, lunch, dinner, espresso, and breakfast. Also, very affordable and easy to find.

The service and food at this place were great. It is a quiet atmosphere with some good wine and great desserts. Garrett, our waiter, was the man.

This is a good spot for breakfast when staying in the area. Service is pretty quick and friendly. The food is good. The decor is homey. And some of the views are spectacular. I had the french toast combo. The toast was purported to be made from french bread, but it seemed more like a loaf of whole wheat cinnamon bread to me. I really liked it. The toast was just toasty on the outside and tender throughout, taking well to the soft butter and warm maple syrup. My over-easy eggs were perfect and the sausage was snappy and spicy and delicious. Her "Al's Scramble" was a mountainous plate of hashbrowns, cheese, tomato, and peppers. There were a couple of mushrooms in there as well. The browns were cooked just right, as were her scrambled eggs tossed on top. There is no way for one normal person to finish this. Coffee was tasty and plentiful. We'll be back on our next trip to try out some other menu items.

Breakfast here is addictive, especially the scrambles and scones. The servers are always 100% on. It is generally heavy diner food but very well executed.

This restaurant was surprisingly awesome. It looked like a regular old Greek family restaurant when we pulled up, but Yelp gave it such great reviews, how could we pass it up? Glad we didn't! The flavors of everything were so fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed our visit here. Also, the wait staff were literally the nicest people in WA state.

We went there for Valentines Day and were really really disappointed..The food was way overpriced for the quality. We ordered the prime rib and it was so chewy and full of gristle-my husband could not eat it.I literally left some in my napkin after I could not chew it. Vegetables were a joke.Dry and unappetizing..Baked potato was something you might expect in a Denneys. So so disappointed.I have had nice meals in the past here-I wish they had had their regular menu and not a severely limited Valentines one.

Stopped by here because of the Yelp reviews and we were looking to eat some crab cakes!! Sadly....we were denied :(....apparently on the weekends...they serve breakfast all the way until noon.....and we arrived at 11:30am. We asked the waitress if we could just order the crab cakes because we heard they were so great, but she said that we couldn't and the earliest that they would do lunch orders would be 5 minutes til noon....that was a disappointment! So we settled for 2 breakfast orders, the Egg's Benedict with Dungeness craband the Crab and Shrimp omelette (our waitress told us the plates were huge...and they definitely were!!). Each plate was $15...which I think is pretty steep for breakfast....but this was our first and probably last time we would be in Port Angeles...the Egg's Benedict was alright...but they could have put a lot more Dungeness crab on there for what we paid for! And I followed the advice of a fellow Yelper about the hollandaise sauce and it was AWESOME!! Our other order was alright.....I thought the omelette was a little overdone, but it also came with a home-made giant sticky bun and that was DELICIOUS!! I usually never eat those things, but it was the perfect blend of cinnamon, walnuts, and syrup!! Overall...I probably would not come back unless it was for lunchtime since I'm not a huge breakfast person. Pros: - Quick service and they were SUPER friendly!! Just wish they would have made us those crab cakes! - Hollandaise sauce....definitely order this as a side and dunk everything in it! This is really what made the meal delicious Cons: -Breakfast prices were pretty steep (~$15 each) and you would think it would be cheaper in Port Angeles - I wish the chef would have made us crab cakes! - While the hollaindaise sauce is great, I don't think it's a good thing that you really do need to put it on everything to make the food taste great Why I gave it a 3..... It's a cute little mom and pop restaurant and it really does have a pretty garden in front of it. Staff was very quick and efficient, but I wish the chef was more accommodating. Breakfast prices were just too darn expensive for me and I've had a better Egg's Benedict with Dungeness Crab at Pesos in Queen Anne that was cheaper AND it had more crab. Wish I could have tried those crab cakes to see if they really are that good....and get that hollandaise sauce!!

We stopped here on our way to Hurricane Ridge and it hit the spot. The server was so friendly and pleasant. The biscuit was flaky and delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My friend ordered Al's plate which was a burly plate of a hash brown hash. Veggies, hash browns, cheese. It was wonderful.

Very good breakfast, a little oily but hit the spot. Price was about $30 for both of us with a $4 coupon we found in a local motel. I'd eat here again

Very good, somewhat casual, but the food was very good and well prepared. We had calamari for an appetizer and it wasn't over breaded and greasy, small rings and few tentacles, fresh and tasty. I had the pork shank and it was cooked correctly, but could have used a little more sauce with it. My wife's seafood pot pie was excellent, and just loaded with fresh seafood. Service was prompt and attentive, a good experience.

holla n daise holla then daze hollaindaise sauce whatever you get, remember to ask for a side of their hollandaise sauce because really, that is what makes their meal go from "blerg" to "jigga wah?!!" i usually don't like hollaindaise sauce because most restaurants make it too yolky and creamy, this place made it perfect. it was generously spread around the crab egg benedict (which was cooked perfectly) and the hashbrown. so why three stars? well... i though it was sad that the sauce is what was needed to make the dish tasty. will i go here again? yes. but only if i get to holla then daze

The first thing to note is the titular garden. I'm generally not in tune with nature, but sitting at a booth looking out over it did give me a sense of peace watching the insects interact - although this would certainly not be the case for the arachnophobic. Cafe Garden is an unassuming little refuge that in some ways looks more like an antique store in an Amish village than a restaurant in a small "city" and had the feel of a colonial inn. To reinforce the idea of the clientele and mentality, they had absolutely nothing to do with the tackiness of "Twilight Fest" that we inadvertently ended up driving through on our way to Hurricane Ridge and consciously avoided on our way out. Add to the serenity pleasant staff, a prime rib sandwich special ($13) on a crisp, textured roll that was not just filler or convenience calories and a side of cajun chowder that reminded me of the East coast and I'll likely be back when weather warrants next. To put it another way, I almost never eat breakfast and I'd strongly consider trying it here if i was ever around and hungry at the right time, and I was sorry I didn't have room for dessert. Seattle and its extended environs do not really treat comfort "American" food as a non-chain focus, but Cafe Garden is keeping the tradition alive.

Stayed at nearby motel. Staff recommended this restaurant. OMG, what a very nice restaurant. Very good service, mature but not overly complex menu. Sea- Food Pot pie was excellent. Order this in addition to whatever you want because if you don't and you see it delivered to another table....dinner's depression for sure. The sea-food salad featured sauté shrimp, scallops, shrimp, crab over cool greens, tomatoes and cucumbers. oMG. Do not miss this restaurant!

A lot of items on the menu. a lot of fake plants. I think it is an older house that was converted into a restaurant. The food is ok, kind of divey dinerish. There arent many options in this town.

This restaurant was recommended to me by the reviews I the wife and I went for breakfast one morning. I was surprised to see so many glowing reviews of this restaurant because my experience, while not horrible, was average at best in three areas: food, service, and decor. Although most restaurants in Port Angeles (as I came to know) are mostly casual, this restaurant felt too much like my grandmother's home interior (from 1970). The decor consisted of local photos put in 99 cent store frames and hung on the wall, but that had been on the wall a little too long since many of them were faded. This must be the draw since it was packed. OK, so you don't go to a restaurant for the wall decor, I get that, but it certainly does give you an insight into how they care about their image and their food. The service was painfully slow. I may be one of the only reviews that rates them as average but I feel it is deserved. When the food, service and decor aren't that good and your prices are higher than average that's not a good sign. If someone were to ask me if I would go there again or if I would recommend it, I would honestly say there are better choices.

We had dinner here one night, and breakfast a few days later. Both meals were outstanding and service was cheerful, prompt and sincere. All menu items consisted of sustainably harvested ingredients and our selections were prepared with skill and creativity. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, a welcome relief from the somewhat gritty neighborhood.

OK so Port Angeles isn't exactly ritzy, so the level of sketch perceived from the outside wasn't far from the ordinary in this town. Still, I was wary. So glad we went for it though, because it was really cute inside and super yum! I had the Cafe' Waffle with strawberries, blackberries and toasted almonds. They will top it with ice cream or whipped cream...or both. I wasn't brave enough to venture to the land of ice cream for breakfast so I stuck with the whipped cream. Awesome. The coffee could have a little more kick, but it wasn't a deal breaker. A great day starter before exploring Olympic National Park.

"Seems like they should have a pie case" was the comment from my lunch partner - which speaks to the decor: an interesting mix, seems half trying to be 'fancy', but half old lady folksy. Plenty of options for lunch. The hamburger I had was like the size of my head. It was pretty good. Tasted some of lunch buddy's crab cake and that too was good and also practically the size of the plate. Service was decent, a little slow to get ordered but food came out fairly fast thereafter. Plus, waitress was there and ready to refill my iced tea before I ran out, which is always a positive for me (and sadly all too rare).

I agree the quality and taste of the food is usually quite good here, the only caution I'd have is: make sure you can spare at least half an hour to wait for your food to come out. Especially for a weekend breakfast or at lunchtime. You're left wondering, "whats taking soooo long?" its not that tough of an order...

We came into town for breakfast after camping in Olympic National Park, and stopped at Cafe Garden as it was the first place we saw that looked like they'd have breakfast food and we were starving. It turned out to be a reasonable choice. My boyfriend got a breakfast combo with french toast, eggs and sausage, while I got the Saratoga Eggs (3 eggs scrambled with cream cheese and green onions). I gave my boyfriend the biscuit I got with my meal. The french toast looked like small slices, but they seemed to be good. My eggs were fantastic -- so much cream cheese! Coffee was fine and plentiful. Decent meal, but nothing exciting! If I come back I'll have to add some crab meat to my eggs.

Decided to stop by this mom and pop restaurant for breakfast after reading all the great reviews, and I was so glad I did. It may very well be the best breakfast I've ever had! I loved the coziness of this restaurant and homemade quality of their food. The bacon is a must-try here! The slices are thick, not the usual thin crispy bacon from chain restaurants. As other reviewers have stated, it is on the pricier side, but I believe you get what you pay for. The portions are large and food is amazing. Service here is also really great. Would definitely return if ever given the opportunity!

We had a delicious breakfast here before heading out to the Hoh Rainforest on a drizzly morning. I had an omelet off the specials page, with bay shrimp, veggies, avocado and a little hollandaise, served with hashbrowns and a biscuit. The hashbrowns were the perfect balance of soft and crispy, the biscuit, fluffy, and the omelet was fantastic. My boyfriend had the Eggs Saratoga with crab and they were SO delicious. Light and fluffy, yet rich. He ordered one of their baked goods to go with his breakfast- a streussel coffee cake that was just sweet enough and gargantuan in size. Our server was very friendly and the support staff were quite attentive. If we ever make it back out to Port Angeles, we'll definitely be back!

Driving through the blue-collar streets of logging-centric, tourist-trap Port Angeles, you would not expect to find any restaurants aspiring to culinary excellence. You'd probably expect most menus to consist of items like "burger" and "burrito" and "BLT." You would also be wrong. Among the many food establishments, there are several that offer well-prepared, delicious and reasonably priced selections and among these, Cafe Garden is my favorite place to go for a solid American breakfast or lunch. The place is somewhat nondescript, due in part to its garden surroundings which partially obscure the front of the building. The garden wraps around to block views of not-so-lovely US Highway 101 which bisects the town. Thus it was somewhat of a surprise to find this restaurant, but a very pleasant one. Cafe Garden serves breakfast and lunch (Sundays are breakfast only all-day). The variety and quantity of items on the considerable menu is amazing and the restaurant is able to produce high-quality food consistently. Here you will find the best blueberry pancakes around, light and fluffy and jam-packed with succulent fruit. I also love their Eggs Saratoga, a scrambled/omelet with optional ingredients such as fresh local Dungeness Crab. Though it's not on the menu, if you ask nicely they may make the Saratoga for you with delectable smoked salmon (my personal preference). Virtually all breakfasts include crispy hash browns and a plethora of baked good choices from hearty blackberry muffins to scones and croissants. Lunch time brings more delights with an extensive list of fresh salads, sandwiches and pasta. They recently also added a series of Harris Ranch beef burgers, any one of which should satisfy the hungriest of appetites. The Friday-only seafood chowder in a sourdough bread bowl is the best in town. This New England-style concoction is thick, rich and loaded with the bounty from local waters and is not to be missed. For those who are still hungry, Cafe Garden also features some awesome desserts. The seven-layer chocolate cake is a diet-buster but will leave you with a big smile on your face. Their rendition of the triple berry cobbler, a standard at many restaurants in town, is also quite good. Service is small-town friendly and attentive. You'll feel like you have a new friend before you leave the restaurant. Food comes out of the kitchen lickety-split so you won't typically have to wait for food, although service times increase when the restaurant is packed or has a large group in the private dining area in the rear. Overall, this restaurant is a great find in town. If the restaurant is busy and you don't want to stand in line, other good options include Chestnut Cottage or the Plunkin Shack down by the waterfront. However, I'd encourage you to wait for a seat--this place is well worth the wait.

The best restaurant for breakfasts & lunches. The Saratoga eggs are to die for, but definitely high calorie. Also, they will modify any menu item to your taste. They had a salmon/pasta dish with a sauce that I did not like, so prepared it with the lightest of butter/wine sauces that I have ever had. Having recently moved to PA, I eat breakfast here regularly and have noted that many of the same people are there most mornings. The staff is quite friendly, and the service good.

Me, my sister, and my mom showed up to this restaurant after a day of disgusting meal after disgusting meal in Forks. We were hungry and looking for something relatively fresh and healthy. We weren't dissapointed with Garden Cafe. The decor is a little old lady-ish, but the service was great and the food was a welcome change from what we had been eating. The pasta salad was a little over-dressed, but the sandwiches we all ordered were filled with fresh veggies and delicious meat. The bread was yummy, too. All in all a good experience.

We stopped in after a full day of hiking in nearby Olympic National park still dressed in our hiking clothes. We were warmly received. the food selections were varied which was helpful in feeding two teenagers. The price for the special was a little high but the menu prices were all quite reasonable and the quality of the food was very good. Our table looked out on a very nice garden. The staff was friendly and quite knowledgable about all menu items. My kids ate everything on their plates. It is not a large restaurant however even with many patrons we did not feel crowded at all and it was not noisy. I tell any one visiting that it is a place they should go for either breakfast or dinner.

OH MY GOD. CRABCAKES. SAMMICHES. PASTA. and the corn chower was fucking amazing. the crabcakes had a lot of crab, spiced very nicely. and the service was top notch. i stopped myself many times from trying to wink at the attractive waitstaff. too bad we didn't make it out of the wilderness in time for breakfast. i heard it's killer.

We haven't eaten dinner here in over 4 years. It's now under new ownership so we decided to give it a try. We were very pleased. The service was friendly, prompt and 2 servers offered advice (for soup and desert) that turned out to be excellent. The appetizer cheese biscuit was mouthwatering good. I had the Chicken Ginger Linguine special and polish sausage with cabbage soup (one of the recommendations).

The nicest people. The best food! Eggs Saratoga was a unique specialty dish that we tried. It consisted of eggs, cream cheese, cheese and onions. It was great! The real winner was the omelet with crab and shrimp. It was declared to be one of the best things some folks in my party had ever eaten. Looking around Port Angeles, this may be the only good place to eat besides the DQ! The service was also excellent. The surroundings are quaint and the view to their restaurant side greenery is a wonderful addition to the good food and service. Don't waste your time eating anywhere else in Port Angeles. Just come here.

A bright jewel in an otherwise dank city. We discovered Cafe Garden by accident and we are so happy we did. Port Angeles does not have many nice, clean, "sophisticated" places to eat but Cafe Garden is just beautifully charming. It seems like it would be much more at home in the Napa Valley than Port Angeles. The decor is very pleasing somewhere between French or Italian or possibly upscale California. It was clear that every little thing was planned out and the superior effort in design is very evident. Just gorgeous! I also really liked the front garden which even in winter was very beautiful and welcoming. Had a feel of the gardens I am used to back home in the UK, The food was superb. I had a Ruben and salad lunch plate. My partner had the daily special a garlic chicken linguine which was really yummy. I also want to mention the salad was by far the freshest salad I've ever had up in this area of Washington. With out a doubt it was the freshest food Ive had in the Port Angeleles, Forks, Aberdeen corridor. The host and waiter were also very attentive and helpful, though I would like to have seem them smile a little more. They both seemed a little tense but like I said were very attentive. Just one warning. This place is designed for the more sophisticated "wine" crowd especially women. Its sort of a little hide away for us gals to get a little refinement. If you are a big burly biker or lumberjack reading this, it is probably not the place for you!

I love the entryway and garden atmosphere. The food is ok but nothing spectacular, although I did enjoy their Gyro sandwich more than anything else I've eaten there. The service is always good though and the people are very friendly and for that reason I continue to eat there. I think I prefer their lunches over their breakfast items.

I was given the impression of local and organic. Just to clarify, it is not. They do have some local eggs and milk. That is about it for the breakfast we had. The food was ok. It did not stand out. We had breakfast with a wide variety of dishes. They were unable to offer a natural maple syrup. They only had carmel colored artificial flavored high fructose corn syrup - syrup. The garden view was lovely, but I was looking for a healthy meal.

We were looking for some food on Sunday after running a half marathon, and after driving around for around town for a bit, we very nearly went to Safeway for lunch. Then we passed by Cafe Garden with its parking lot full and knew that to be a good sign. On Sundays, they only serve their breakfast menu, which included steak and eggs, pancakes, many different types of omelettes, including crab omelette. I got the Florentine Pancetta, which was so good I am going to make it now at home. Out came sauteed spinach, onions, panchetta, and mushrooms topped with 2 poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce. The gooey yolk of the poached eggs oozed onto the spinach mixture, complementing it nicely. It came with toast and a very generous portion of fresh fruit. Because I was so tired and hungry, I also ordered an extra side of hash browns, which were browned perfectly. Their coffee was a bit watered down, but I did see on that they serve espresso and lattes. The service was excellent and friendly, and this was the perfect place to load up after a race, or to grab brunch on any day.

Lovely garden and ravine. They have nice staff. My in laws been going there two decades. Me? I an vegan and look for veggies with Als special, hold the eggs and cheese, receive mostly potatoes, few tomatoes and three mushrooms. Paid the full price. I was going to just have the oatmeal with soy milk, and they dont carry soy, instead offered warm water. They are nice and if you eat meat probably have no problem.

We tried their breakfast a few months back and were delighted at the selection. The berry waffles with ice cream and whip cream were superb and their bacon was not over-done or too greasy. So great!! We recently had lunch there the other day and, again, were impressed with their offerings. Great food, great service, and great locale with a picturesque garden views from all angles. Highly recommend!

YUM! We showed up at this place at 11:45. My guy wanted breakfast and I wanted lunch (they changed at 12:00). The waitress was wonderful and took our breakfast and lunch order. We shared the breakfast order and right as we finished, our lunch order was brough out to share as well. Perfect timing! The Eggs Saratoga with crab for breakfast was amazing! It came with really tasty hash browns as well. For lunch we had the crab cake which came with deliciously flavored linguini. Both plates were finished with a mimosa (they brought out the orange juice and mini bottle of champagne separately so I was able to mix my own and it made about 3 glasses!) Definitely would come back here!

Happiness is a crab cake and French roast! After four nights of camping, the Cafe Garden was a pleasant stop on our way back home. We were immediately warmly welcomed by a pleasant host, a nice feeling when you suspect you're a bit scruffy from backpacking. I enjoyed the Dungeness crab cakes that came with a side of linguine and vegetables. The pasta wasn't gourmet, but I very much appreciated the crispy, fresh veggies. DH had the monster burger, which lived up to its name. I'm not sure how he got it into his mouth, but he declared it tasty. The kids enjoyed their plates, and we adults enjoyed several cups of tasty, strong coffee. One downside, I did feel that they were a bit too liberal with the butter/oil. The crab cake sauce was quite rich and the crab cakes themselves were just slightly greasy. Tasty thought they were, I think they would be even better if that tweak could be made. Generous on the crabmeat though... a definite plus. The pasta was a tad oily, too, but the veggies overrode any lasting negative feelings there. The restaurant's atmosphere was very pleasant, and the servers were attentive and helpful. I noticed the cute garden path on the way out. We'll be back!

We were passing through Port Angeles and my wife had done some research regarding the best breakfast places along the route. This had been highly reviewed so we thought we would give it a shot. I was halfway skeptical when I parked near the quality green/white motel next door, but this place was brilliant! Nice staff, great breakfast, great Eggs Benedict. If you don't get Eggs Benedict here, you're either a communist or .. something else that's like a communist.. I should learn history and facts and stuff of the sort, eh?

Went to Cafe Garden for dinner. The food was very good and portions were generous. We had New York strips. The were prepared very well and tasted wonderfully. Everything was all that one could expect except the service and that was beyond superb. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were well cared for from the time we walked in until we left. She was great and made the dining experience exceptional.

We stopped here for dinner one week night and found it packed - about a 30 minute wait. Clearly this is a place where the locals go for good food. It's a small restaurant, perhaps 20-25 tables - including a smaller second dining room. Once seated the waitress was very friendly and competent. The food was the best that we best we found in Port Angeles. We'd recommend trying it.

My family and I were vacationing from Denver, Colorado. We were traveling via ferry to Victoria, Canada. Prior to our trip, we decided to have breakfast. After looking at several restaurants in the area, we nearly left Port Angeles to find an alternative restaurant. We spotted the Cafe Garden and there were several cars in the parking lot. We thought this must be a good sign if the locals frequented the restaurant. My wife(a huge flower and plant lover) immediately fell in love with the outdoor garden. We spent time walking through the garden, smelling flowers and enjoying the setting. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately pleased with the atmosphere and personnel. Our family all enjoyed their meals and especially enjoyed the baked goods. We have often spoken of the Garden Cafe since our trip and will absolutely visit this establishment again on our next trip.

After arriving on the ferry in Port Angeles from Victoria the previous night, we were looking for good place for breakfast before heading out to Olympic National Park. To complicate matters, we had our dog in tow and were hoping to find a restaurant that would let us sit outside with her. The Cafe Garden ended up being the perfect solution. We were able to sit out on the deck in the beautiful, lush garden while eating a delicious, bountiful meal. My husband had pancakes, I had an omelette, one daughter had something prepared gluten-free (a necessity) and the other daughter had eggs with an enormous cinnamon roll on the side -- she was in heaven. Finally, our server was pleasant and accomodating. This was a thoroughly delightful experience.
